More than just numbers: inside Menzies’ employer brand video

How Menzies LLP used dynamic video storytelling to attract top audit talent and showcase their vibrant company culture.

In a competitive job market where attracting top audit talent is more challenging than ever, Menzies LLP set out to redefine how they connect with potential recruits.

Rather than relying on traditional corporate messaging, they embraced a fresh, engaging video approach to bring their company culture, values, and career opportunities to life.

The goal was clear - showcase Menzies as an employer of choice for senior and assistant manager-level auditors by offering an authentic glimpse into what makes their workplace unique.

This project wasn’t just about recruitment; it was about standing out in a sector where the right talent is in high demand.

Pre-production & project management

  • Storyboarding – Developed a detailed storyboard to ensure a dynamic, engaging flow while covering key messaging.

  • Narrative & questions – Crafted a compelling storyline and interview questions to guide on-camera conversations.

  • Logistics – Managed scheduling, location planning, and permissions for filming at Menzies’ Staines office.

Production

  • Dynamic filming style – Used a TLDR (Too Long; Didn’t Read) approach with “day in the life” elements and natural, walk-and-talk clips for an energetic, less corporate feel.

  • Equipment & crew – Captured footage over six hours using a two-camera setup with a two-person crew.

  • Variety in scenes – Showcased different staff members and office locations to highlight culture and work environment.

Post-production

  • Editing – Created a polished, engaging 2-minute video that aligned with the desired tone and branding.

  • Subtitles & captions – Added for accessibility and wider audience reach.

  • Graphics & animation – Integrated visuals to emphasize Menzies’ USPs and enhance engagement.

  • Social media edits – Produced three shorter (15-30 second) versions optimized for quick, high-impact social media use.

Outcome

The final video production successfully showcased Menzies’ vibrant culture, core values, and unique selling points in a dynamic and engaging manner. The social media edits provided additional touchpoints for attracting potential recruits, addressing the industry-wide resource issue with a fresh and appealing approach.
